The Conference Venue

The University of the West of England – UWE Bristol – has four Faculties with more than 28000 students in total across five campuses. Frenchay Campus where the conference will be held is the biggest with nearly 20000 students. We have state of the art Conference and Teaching & Learning facilities and a range of Quality Cafes and Restaurants.

The City of Bristol

Currently home to 500,000 people and the ninth largest economy in the United Kingdom. Some of the most innovative companies in the UK and Europe are based here – Airbus, Rolls Royce, HP.

It is a historic port at the mouth of the river Avon and has been a major trading centre for the South West of England for centuries.

Main hub for one of the UK’s earliest and most innovative railways (Great Western Railway). One of the finest earliest examples of a suspension bridge in the world – Clifton suspension bridge designed and built by one of Britain’s most innovative engineers of the 19th century Brune. Bristol is also home to street art and the world’s most famous graffiti artist – Banksy. Every August Bristol hosts the famous International Bristol (Hot-Air) Balloon Fiesta.

Travelling to Bristol

By Air

Bristol has its own international airport, situated 10 Km southwest of the city. Good connections to the city via, Bus and Taxi.

The two main London airports – Heathrow and Gatwick offer connections to Bristol via direct coach links by National Express.

There are train services from Gatwick airport (via Reading) to Bristol Parkway station, while Heathrow Express offers a direct service to London Paddington Railway Station. GWR operates direct trains to Bristol's two main railway stations (Bristol Temple Meads and Bristol Parkway).

By Train

Train connections from everywhere in Britain arrive and depart Bristol from its two main railway stations (Bristol Temple Meads and Bristol Parkway).

By Bus

National Express and operate coach services from / to all cities in the UK and some European Destinations.

By Car

Bristol offers good motorway connections to the rest of the country with the M4 to London, the M32 to Wales and the West and the M5 towards the Midlands and the North.
